Our verdict. PuroClean is a reasonable first call after a Florida water loss. It is headquartered in the state, lists 38 Florida offices, and its insurer programme asks franchises for contact within 60 minutes and drying logs an adjuster can read. Every location is an independently owned franchise, it publishes no prices, and the public review record is thin: 19 Trustpilot reviews averaging 2.7 of 5, and a single unanswered BBB complaint against the franchisor. Call the office nearest you, but get a second written estimate from an independent IICRC-certified restorer for any large job, and read the work authorization for any assignment of benefits before you sign.

The two Florida franchises we checked on the BBB carry A+ grades and zero complaints.

Where to be careful

Every location is an independently owned franchise, so quality depends on the local owner.
No published prices. Its cost page repeats national averages from other sites, not its own rates.
Very little public review data: 19 Trustpilot reviews, 63% of them one star, and the brand has not replied to them.
The franchisor's BBB grade is A-, lowered for failing to answer a complaint about a franchisee.

We have not hired PuroClean, and nobody at BestHonestPro has. This review is research: PuroClean's own website, cost page, Florida office list and insurer white paper, its February 2026 press release, franchise industry data, Better Business Bureau files for the franchisor and two Florida franchises, Trustpilot, two editorial rankings, published cost guides and the Florida statute on assignment of benefits. We read patterns across complaints rather than quoting single angry customers, and we left out anything we could not trace to a source.

We have not called PuroClean for a test quote yet. When we do, what we asked and what they said will be added here with the date.

What PuroClean is

PuroClean is a restoration franchise run by PuroSystems, LLC, based in Tamarac, Florida. PuroClean launched as a franchise in 2001. Mark W. Davis and Frank Torre bought the company in 2015 and still own it privately. It handles water damage, fire and smoke, mold and biohazard cleanup, plus reconstruction at some locations.

How big it is depends on who you ask. PuroClean said in February 2026 that it had passed 500 locations in the US and Canada. Franchise Times, on its 2025 list, counted 500 units and $478 million in system-wide sales, 100% franchised. The brand's own location finder still says 413+ service centers.

The fact that matters most to you: PuroSystems describes PuroClean as a brand of independently owned and operated franchises. The office that comes to your house is a local business, and your experience depends on that owner.

Read that first line carefully. PuroClean's $3,860 average and its $1,383 to $6,370 range match Angi's 2026 national figures ($3,868, $1,383 to $6,369). They describe the industry, not what a PuroClean franchise will charge you. Your number is the written estimate.

We found no published figure for a trip fee, an inspection fee or an after-hours charge. Ask on the phone.

PuroClean, your insurer and the Florida AOB rule

PuroClean runs a Certified Priority Response programme for insurers. It says franchises in it make contact within 60 minutes, inspect on site within four hours, send status reports every 24 hours, and must document losses in software such as Xactimate. The Deerfield Beach franchise says, for commercial claims, that it provides drying logs, scope documents and photos on every project. We found no brand-wide statement on whether a franchise bills your insurer directly, so ask.

The Florida rule to know before you sign. For any residential property policy issued on or after 1 January 2023, Florida law says you may not assign your post-loss insurance benefits to a contractor. If your policy is older and still allows it, an emergency-services assignment is capped at the greater of $3,000 or 1% of your dwelling coverage, and you can cancel it within 14 days. Read the work authorization for any wording that assigns benefits or lets the company deal with your insurer in your place.

PuroClean in Florida

Florida is PuroClean's home state. Its Florida office list shows 38 locations, including Miami (four), Orlando (three), Jacksonville (three), St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Naples, Marco Island, Melbourne, St. Augustine, Gulf Breeze and Miramar Beach. Each listing names the local operator. Coverage is broad along both coasts and in Central Florida.

The Brandon franchise's BBB file shows Florida mold remediator licence MRSR2566. We have not checked it with the Florida DBPR, so treat it as shown, not verified. Ask any office for its own licence numbers.

The complaint record, read fairly

The franchisor, PuroSystems, is graded A- by the BBB and is not accredited. Its file shows one complaint in three years, filed in December 2024 by a customer who said headquarters did not return calls about a complaint against a franchisee. It is marked unanswered, and that is the reason the grade is below A+. The two Florida franchises we checked are graded A+ with no complaints, though the East Tampa file only opened in May 2025.

Nineteen reviews is too few to call a trend. The negative ones repeat themes seen across the whole industry: disputed bills, drying that ran far longer than expected, slow communication and damaged belongings. The positive ones mention courteous crews and thorough work. Editorial scores are the publishers' own judgement, not customer averages.

Official actions. We found no Attorney General action, regulator settlement or class action against PuroClean or PuroSystems as of this review. Individual franchises appear in ordinary civil suits, as any contractor does. We did not treat those as findings.

Who it suits, and who should compare

A good fit: a water loss anywhere near one of its Florida offices, when you want a crew quickly and want the drying documented in a form your adjuster will accept.

Get a second estimate: any large or disputed claim, and any office with a short track record you cannot check. Ask an independent IICRC-certified restorer for a written estimate too. If there is mold, Florida requires a licensed mold assessor and a licensed remediator, and the same company may not do both on your house within 12 months. See mold after a leak.

Ask these on the phone, in this order, and ask the same questions of whoever you compare them with. The spread in the answers tells you more than the spread in the prices.

Who owns this office, and how long has it been open under the PuroClean name?
Is there an inspection fee, a trip fee or an after-hours charge tonight?
Does anything in this contract assign my insurance benefits? My policy was issued on (date).
Will you price the job in Xactimate, and can I see the line-item estimate before work goes past emergency drying?
Will I get daily moisture readings, drying logs, photos and an equipment count?
What is your Florida mold remediator licence number (it starts with MRSR)? Check it free on the DBPR site.
If my insurer pays less than your invoice, who owes the difference, and is there a written warranty?
