The short version
This site sets no cookies and runs no advertising trackers. It counts visits with a cookieless tool that cannot follow you to any other website. If you fill in the shortlist form, we keep what you typed so we can do the research and come back to you, and if you ask us to connect you with a contractor we pass on what that contractor needs to help you. If a call number is shown and you dial it, that call is handled by telephone infrastructure. All of it is explained below in plain language.
What we collect on the website
Nothing that identifies you. No cookies, no advertising pixels, no session storage, no fingerprinting, and no logins. Exactly two pieces of code run on these pages, and both come from our host, Cloudflare:
- Cloudflare Web Analytics. It counts page views, and reports which page, which country, which browser type and roughly how fast the page loaded. It uses no cookies at all, does not create an identifier for you, and cannot follow you to any other website. We see totals, never individuals. We use it for one thing: to know whether anybody is reading this.
- Email address obfuscation. On pages that show an email address, Cloudflare rewrites it and serves a small script to decode it, purely so spam robots have a harder time harvesting it. It sets nothing and reports nothing.
Cloudflare also processes standard server request data, including IP address and user agent, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. If you would rather not be counted at all, any browser tracker-blocker or a Do Not Track setting will stop the analytics script loading, and the site works exactly the same without it.
What happens when you fill in the shortlist form
The form asks for your name, email address, ZIP code, what needs doing, how urgent it is, a description of the problem, and optionally a phone number. We keep exactly that, plus the date and time, the page you sent it from, and the country and approximate region your connection reports.
Why we hold it. To research contractors in your area, to write and send you the shortlist, and to reply if you write back. That is the whole purpose, and we do not use it for anything else.
Who else sees it. Nobody, unless you ask us to put you in touch with a contractor. If you do, we pass that contractor what they need in order to help you, which is normally your name, your contact details and a description of the job. We tell you who we are passing it to. We do not sell your details, we do not add you to a marketing list, and we are not a data broker.
Where it is kept. In storage operated by Cloudflare, our hosting provider, on our behalf. Access is restricted to us.
How long. Twelve months from your last contact with us, then deleted. If you ask us to delete it sooner, we delete it and confirm that we have.
The basis for holding it. You asked us to do something for you and ticked a box saying so. You can withdraw that at any time by writing to us, and we will stop and delete.
What happens when you call
Calls placed from this site are routed through call tracking infrastructure to a participating contractor or to a partner network acting on our behalf. In that process the following are typically processed: your telephone number, the time and duration of the call, the page you called from, and your approximate region derived from the number. Calls may be recorded by the contractor or the network for quality and billing purposes, and where a call is recorded you will be told at the start of the call. Recording consent rules differ by state and are the responsibility of the party recording.
Why we process it
To connect you with a contractor, to confirm that a referral fee is due, and to investigate complaints. We do not build advertising profiles and we do not sell personal information to data brokers.
Who receives it
The contractor who takes your call, and where applicable the partner network that routes it, each acting as an independent controller of the information they receive. Our hosting and call tracking providers process it on our instructions.
How long it is kept
Call records are retained for as long as needed to settle referral fees and resolve disputes, and then deleted. Contractors and networks apply their own retention periods to the records they hold.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, by writing to [email protected]. We answer within thirty days and usually the same week. Depending on where you live you may have additional statutory rights, including under state privacy laws in the United States, and we will honour valid requests under those laws. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross context behavioural advertising.
Advertising
We may buy advertising on search engines. Those platforms may set their own cookies on their own properties before you arrive here. They do not set cookies through this site, and there is no advertising conversion tag on these pages today. If that changes, this page changes with it, before the tag goes on.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be described in plain language rather than buried.
